Remuera

Terry has spent his lifetime living in Auckland, and the last 40 years in Remuera.

He has accumulated a substantial collection of material that relates to Remuera’s history, which includes photos, postcards, scrap books, artefacts, L.J. Keys trade accounts, pharmacy items, interviews, etc.

Terry’s primary research projects in Remuera include:

  • The Ladies’ College (1880 – 1934)
  • The U.S. Navy Mobile Hospital #4 in Market Road
  • Chemists & Pharmacists
  • William Thompson Wilson – Photographer
  • L.J. Keys – Grocer & Bus Operator
  • Trams (see article HERE in ‘Transport’ section on vehicles)

Terry was the inaugural chairperson of the Remuera Heritage Society, a position he held for six years from 2007 – 2013.

Terry has co-written the booklet “Remuera Pharmacy – Celebrating 100 years” in 2009. He also supported and was a significant contributor to the wonderful book on Remuera, Meadowbank, and St John’s, “A Fine Prospect”, written by Jenny Carlyon and Diana Morrow in 2011.
